Important Information Regarding Passports

Our office is happy to assist you with your passport. Here’s a list of frequently asked questions:

  1. Travelling in the next 2 months? If yes, we suggest visiting Service Canada located at 19 Lisgar St. Our processing time is approximately 35 business days (plus mail time). Service Canada has a 10-business day service.

  2. Was your last passport issued in the last 15 years? If yes, you can use the simplified renewal form. A general application is not necessary.

  3. Applying for a general passport? Make sure your guarantor has signed your photo, your application, and the photocopy of your supporting ID document.

  4. Do I need a long form birth certificate for my child’s passport? Yes, child passports now require the long form birth certificate with both parents’ names listed along with proof of custody.

  5. Do I need new passport photos? Yes, passport photos must be taken within 6 months of the application. Be sure the photographer stamps are clear, complete, and dated.

  6. What can our office assist you with? We will review your completed application to ensure all necessary information is provided, then we will mail your passport to Passport Canada. NOTE: we do not drive passport applications to Ottawa. We use Purolator to securely mail each application. Passports will be returned to you via Canada Post.
