MP for Sudbury announces funding for Carrefour francophone de Sudbury

SUDBURY – Arts and culture organizations in Canada’s official language minority communities play a vital role in strengthening the creative economy and fostering vibrant, inclusive local communities.

Today, Viviane Lapointe, Member of Parliament Sudbury, announced total funding of $242,250 for Carrefour francophone de Sudbury. She made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages. This funding is provided through two programs: $141,000 from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and $101,250 from the Development of Official-Language Communities Program.

Funding from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund will support the Carrefour francophone de Sudbury’s performing arts presenters’ series La Slague over three years. The series presents professional, multidisciplinary artistic activities that foster arts learning and appreciation among Francophone and Francophile communities living in a minority-language context in Sudbury.

Funding from the Development of Official-Language Communities Program will help sustain a wide range of artistic and cultural activities and services offered in French throughout Greater Sudbury and Sudbury East in 2026–2027. These will contribute to the dynamic transmission of the French language and Francophone culture while strengthening community engagement.
