Sudbury MP Viviane Lapointe Appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for Public Safety and Official Languages

SUDBURY – Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, announced the appointment of Viviane Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, as Parliamentary Secretary to the Associate Minister of Public Safety and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Official Languages.

In her role as Parliamentary Secretary for Public Safety, MP Lapointe will support the Minister in overseeing Canada’s national security and law enforcement agencies. This includes working closely with key organizations such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), and Public Safety Canada. Her work will focus on ensuring community safety and addressing emerging security threats, including cybercrime and foreign interference.

As Parliamentary Secretary for Official Languages, she will assist in advancing policies and initiatives that protect and promote linguistic duality across Canada, ensuring support for francophone communities in minority settings.
