Sudbury, ON – Member of Parliament for Sudbury, Viviane Lapointe, has been selected as Chair of the Northern Ontario Caucus. MP Lapointe will assume the Chair role later this month.
As a caucus group, MPs across northern Ontario work together on key issues and priorities for the region such as: economic development, skilled labour needs, affordable housing, transit, infrastructure projects and improving quality of care for seniors in Northern Ontario.
“I would like to thank my Northern Ontario colleagues for their vote of confidence. I am looking forward to my new role as Chair. Strong cities and communities lead to a strong and prosperous Northern Ontario. Working together has proven successful for our region and I’m eager to continue advancing our priorities as Chair of Northern Ontario Caucus,” said MP Lapointe.
As Caucus Chair, MP Lapointe will have a lead role in representing the needs of northern Ontario at larger Ontario and National Caucuses. MP Lapointe will also be responsible for highlighting emerging and ongoing needs and challenges of the Northern Ontario region to members of Cabinet. Collectively, the members of the Northern Ontario Caucus are focused on bringing made-in-the-north solutions and innovations to the table at a national level.
